Promoting your Newsletter

In a recent issue of About.com Publishing, I invited all newsletter publishers to share their effective and unique methods of promoting their newsletters, on the Internet and elsewhere.

I've compiled the best responses here. This is a work in progress, so if you've had a great response with an online promotion unlike any other, email me at publishing.guide@about.com, and I'll add it to this page.

Priscilla Y. Huff, publisher of "101 Best, & More Home-Based & Small Businesses for Women UPDATES: The Latest Facts, News, & Tips for Self-Employed Women."
http://selfemployedwoman.com

I use the Net to get more subscribers by featuring sample articles on my web site, and through the various articles I write for various women's business sites--I add in the tagline how to get a free sample copy via "snail mail," [LSASE to LITTLE HOUSE Writing & Publishing, Box 286, Sellersville, PA 18960] or through e-mail pyhuff@cynet.net.

Kare Anderson, publisher of "Say it Better" (http://www.sayitbetter.com), a newsletter dedicated to helping you become more compelling in how you speak, move, appear in the settings in which you work.

My online newsletter now reaches 17,634 people in 32 countries. We attract subscribers through the five conference speeches where I speak each month, the 48 monthly publications in which my print column appears (from Broadcast Engineering to Gourmet Retailer), average of 18 other publications per month where an article will appear, back-of-the-book references on my published books, through the 218 web sites where my articles appear, and from the nine web sites of cross-promoting speaker/authors.

I believe in virtual collaborations -- clear, specific agreements with others to do something together that leverages more value for both, than we could have accomplished alone.

Steve Henthorn of SPHERE Publishing House, publisher of COMPUTER CORNER™

I send my newsletter via e-mail to those who provide others with newsletters, will be setting up an ad on my site, and advertise on my weekly radio show (COMPUTER CORNER™ which airs each Monday @ 5:20 PM on WSGS FM).

Kathy Tarbox, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief 'The Saponifier'

We use the net to gain subscribers by interacting in listservs pertinent to the industry we market to. We also use it to search out industry retail suppliers who would be interested in distributing our publication in their establishment.
