Dispelling the assumption that all lovers of 19th Century literature would be prejudiced against 21st Century technology, Phyllis Fine writes in OMMA magazine that some members of The Jane Austen Society of North America (JASNA) are "enthusiastic e-cheerleaders" of the decidedly modern ebook proliferation. Fine reported that the Austen fans were "using words like 'love' to describe their relationship with the [e-reader] devices."
It's perfectly sensible, of course - why not use any means available to access Mr. Darcy?

It’s not practical to read any of Jane Austen’s novels on an electronic device.
The paragraph chunks are huge and could go on to several pages; and her sentences are long and windy.
I owned several deluxe editions (paper) of her novels from Folio Society, and even though the font size and leading are generous, I still find it quite demanding on the eyes.
